While it may not take place in Glasgow, hundreds of weegies (and indeed, festivalgoers from across the world) flock to Somerset’s Worthy Farm every year for Glastonbury Festival.
Last year, Elton John was announced as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2023, which will him take Pyramid Stage as part of his farewell tour, and his first ever appearance at the festival.
This morning (March 3), it was announced that Arctic Monkeys and Guns ‘N’ Roses would be joining the Rocket Man to make up the three headliners of Glastonbury Festival 2023.
Lil Nas X is also set to play the sub-headline slot to Elton John, with Lana Del Rey also booked in for some Summertime Sadness in an Other Stage headline slot.
In addition to these acts, the full line-up announcement is, deep breath, as follows: Lizzo, Aitch, Alison Goldfrapp, Alt-J, Amaou & Mariam, Becky Hill, Blondie, Candi Station, Carly Rae Jepson, Cat Burns, Central Cee, Christine And The Queens, Chvrhces, Ezra Collective, Fatboy Slim, Fecer Ray, Flo, Fred Again…, Hot Chip, Joey Bada44, Kelis, Lana Del Rey, Leftfield, Lewis Capaldi, Loyle Carner, Maggie Rogers, Mahalia, Måneskin, Manic Street Preachers, Nova Twins, Phoenix, Raye, Rina Sawayama, Royal Blood, Rudimental, Shygirl, Slowthai, Sparks, Stefflon Don, Sudan Archives, Texas, The Chicks, The War On Drugs, Thundercat, Tinariwen, Warpaint, Weyes Blood, Wizkid, Young Fathers, and Yusuf/Cat Stevens.
In 2019, festival co-organiser Emily Eavis pledged to ensure as close to a 50/50 gender split in the lineup as possible. Currently, 2023’s lineup is 55 per cent male, though there are hundreds of acts still to be announced. In an interview with The Guardian, Eavis also confirmed that Guns ‘N’ Roses were booked to headline after a female headliner cancelled their booking due to a change in touring plans.
2023 will mark Arctic Monkeys’ third headline slot at the festival, after topping the Pyramid Stage in 2007 and 2013. Slash, Axl Rose and crew are rolling into Paradise City Worthy Farm for their first Glastonbury headline slot.
Look out for further announcements in the months to come. Glastonbury 2023 takes place between June 21 – 25 — tickets are currently sold out but a final resale takes place later this year.
