Three words – a dog festival. Well, that’s us sold, but if you want to hear a wee bit more about the upcoming brand-new event, keep reading. Barklove is launching its first-ever furry friend affair in Glasgow, bringing dogs, dog owners and their enthusiasts all in one place. The full programme has now been announced, offering a barking fantastic programme.
SWG in Glasgow is hosting Barklove this summer on July 6, and the whole thing is just a “one-of-a-kind” celebration of dogs. Guests can expect “an unforgettable experience for dog enthusiasts, whether you’re a proud pup parent or simply a big dog fan”.
Barklove is taking over the entire SWG3 complex, with indoor and outdoor spaces, showcasing a dynamic mix of dog-friendly activities and entertainment, dog care demonstrations, wellbeing classes, dog portraits and a curated market of pet-focused products.
Wellbeing classes for doggies are a thing, with Paws & Reset classes led by Fi Duffy of Scottish Canine Wellness that offer a peaceful moment for both dogs and their humans. They are free, but guests have to book in advance here.
Plus, Tarot By Peachy will be on hand to give visitors some dog-themed spiritual guidance with her lighthearted tarot readings.
Outdoors, dogs can stretch their legs and try something new in the Fun Agility Area hosted by Bearsden Dog Training Club, where friendly instructors will be on hand to guide dogs and their owners through “fun agility challenges”. Plus, Barkworks – a special collaboration with Yardworks – invites dogs and their humans to make some art together.
Jenn Nimmo-Smith, Barklove Founder, said: “Combining my lifelong love of dogs with my background in events, Barklove is something I’ve dreamed of bringing to life for a long time. I wanted to create a day that celebrates the special bond we have with our dogs — while also being fun, inspiring and inclusive for all dog lovers, whether they have a pup or not. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to SWG3 this summer for the very first edition.”
While ticket details and a full line-up of events have now been announced, and it looks like it’s going to be a blast.
