Since July 21, all the internet has been talking about is Barbenheimer. Two major film premieres took to the big screen, resulting in one of the biggest box office weekends in a long time. Barbie and Oppenheimer came out on the same day, getting film lovers to decide which movie they liked best. Well, Vue has officially announced that Glasgow has the biggest Barbie fans in the UK.
Big screen operator Vue has announced that Barbie fans in Glasgow are part of the biggest in the UK after just a week after the release. The cinema looked at the data and found out its Glasgow St Enoch venue was entirely sold-out during Barbie’s huge opening weekend. What is more, the weekend was grounds for celebration for Vue, as both of its Glasgow venues at St. Enoch Centre and Glasgow Fort saw their biggest week of all time in terms of admissions, all thanks to the successes of Barbie and Oppenheimer.
The new Barbie movie directed by the talented Greta Gerwig starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling proved to be a major success across the country. The cinema also reported sell-outs in its venues in Bolton, Cambridge, Glasgow (St. Enoch), Leeds (Kirkstall), Islington and Portsmouth.
Plus, Glaswegians were also ready to experience Barbie on the big screen to its fullest, by trying the new Tango Ice Blast in pink candy floss flavour, created especially for the film. The pink limited-edition drink also sold out at Vue St. Enoch, as well as the film itself!
