Floating Candlelight: Movie Soundtracks
Can you imagine anything more magical than hearing your favourite movie soundtracks aboard The Tall Ship? This stunning venue will host a Candlelight tribute to some of the most iconic film scores of all time and the setting could not be more perfect. You’ll hear tracks like ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ from Mary Poppins, ‘Love Theme’ from The Godfather, and ‘The Ecstasy of Gold’ from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly played by a string quartet as candles gently flicker. Sail back in time with some of the most famous movie tracks ever at this gorgeous concert.

Anyone who’s even slightly interested in films recognises the name Hans Zimmer. The German composer has scored most of the biggest blockbusters of the last few decades, including Interstellar, Inception, The Dark Knight, and Wonder Woman. His unique style and ability to capture the tone of a scene have set him apart from other film composers, landing him two Oscars and four Grammys, and counting! This season, listen to Zimmer’s memorable tunes in a beautifully candlelit setting at Arta.

Candlelight is spreading Christmas cheer this holiday season with a mesmerising tribute to iconic festive Christmas films. Merchants House of Glasgow will be unrecognisable as thousands of candles twinkle and shine and a talented string quartet takes to the stage to reimagine soundtracks from Home Alone, Love Actually, The Holiday and more!
Besides putting out the stockings and decorating the Christmas tree, watching these films has by now become a cosy Christmas tradition on its own. And now that they’re getting the Candlelight treatment, you won’t want to miss them this season!
Hearing your favourite theme songs or film scores while sitting in a unique venue surrounded by candles is a great opportunity to discover something new about the shows and movies you adore or appreciate the music as a separate, moving piece.
The Candlelight series takes place twice each night with two back-to-back 60-65 minute performances. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to each show.
