Spring just got a whole lot batter.
With the latest series of The Great British Bake Off coming to an end in November 2020, we’ve been at a bit of a loss in terms of television baking content. Fortunately, a new series of The Great British Bake Off featuring an impressive line-up of celebrities will be back on our screens this spring.
The series is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 that brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving research. From award-winning actors to Olympic gold-medal sportspeople taking part, The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off will not only leave us in tears of laughter, awestruck at the celebs who have definitely been practising and covering our eyes at some of their baking ‘techniques’, it will also help raise money for a significant cause.
This year, we will have the likes of BAFTA winning and Golden Globe nominated actor James McAvoy appearing on our screens, who will be baking his heart out alongside Daisy Ridley, famed for her role in Star Wars, double Olympic champion, Dame Kelly Holmes and Scouse comedian John Bishop, to name a few. Told you it was impressive!
The series will definitely not lack any laughs as it’ll feature four other comedians including the presenter of Bake Off Extra Slice, Tom Allen, one half of the duo with the famous football hit, Three Lions, David Baddiel, and winners of the Taskmaster series, Rob Beckett and Katherine Ryan. They’ll also be plenty of singing whilst they roll out their dough from Little Mix star, Jade Thirwall, X-Factor winner, Alexandra Burke, Nadine Coyle, best known for being in Girls Aloud (and her strange pronunciation of flour), Anne-Marie and the tent will be going bonkers with Dizzee Rascal too.Phew!
Other stars in the celebrity Bake Off line-up who will get set and bake include documentary maker and Strictly Come Dancing winner, Stacey Dooley, BBC Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw, internet celebrity, KSI, Paralympian Ade Adepitan MBE, author and broadcaster Philippa Perry, TV personality Anneka Rice and actor Reece Shearsmith. Phew!
And of course, host Matt Lucas will be back to present, while judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will be judging the star’s bakes. We can’t wait to see these celebrities rise to the occasion!
