Now that’s what we call walking 500 miles and 500 more. Glaswegian Craig Ferguson has warmed everyone’s hearts by walking around 1000 miles from Glasgow to Munich, starting at the beginning of May, for the Euros to help raise money and awareness for a men’s mental health charity.
The wholesome story concluded on June 13 when the kilt-wearing Scot arrived in Munich greeted by the Tartan Army ready for the game. While Craig Ferguson didn’t have any tickets to any of the Euros games at the host country, he helped raise over £60,000 for charity. The football competition kicks off with Scotland playing Germany on Friday, June 14, so we hope there has been plenty of people willing to donate a wee ticket to Craig.
The charity in question is called Brothers In Arms, a Scottish charity with a cause to help reduce male suicide and transform men’s mental health.
After arriving in Munich, Craig Ferguson shared his gratitude on his social media: “The Walk is over 🥹✅
From the bottom of my heart thank you to everyone of you who supported by watching and or donating it was truly the thing that kept me going and for that thank you.
Over £60,000 Raised for men’s mental health this is help save life’s not only that but the amount of eyes and awareness spread on the issue is what’s really important❤️🩹
I’ll try my best to get back to everyone but for now im taking it all in thank you and farewell project Munich.”
Unsurprisingly, commenters online urged: “Amazing. Some people can’t even walk 12,000 steps. Hope they get him a ticket for at least one of the matches.”
Another person said: “Give him free tickets to any games he wants, and as much beer as he wants for free.”
