6 Delightful Drive-In Experiences In Glasgow To Look Forward To Once Lockdown’s Over

This spring’s socially distant entertainment.

Now that there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel, we’re looking to safe and socially distant ways to celebrate our impending freedom. Introducing: the drive-in show. Providing isolated spaces for Glaswegians to enjoy once the government allows, these extra special events are coming to town – and there’s something for everyone. From sing-a-long events, to live theatre – here are some of the best drive-in experiences coming to Glasgow this spring.

1. Big Screen Movies

Enjoy family favourites, cult classics, heartwarming rom-coms and action-packed blockbuster films all from the comfort of your car at this drive-in experience. Kicking off with a showing of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again you can snuggle up and sing along to some ABBA hits featured on the big 40ft screen. Get out the house (because we finally can!) and head to the Ibrox Stadium for a chance to come together over a film while still keeping that safe distance apart. Get tickets here.

2. Social Kids Drive-In

For a great way to celebrate some more freedom and finish the May bank holiday on a high, The Parking Lot Social has launched a drive-in, especially for the kids. Families can enjoy 90 minutes of immersive entertainment featuring a silent disco, car-a-oke, an interactive quiz, party bingo and more! Expect a fun-filled day out that the whole family can enjoy! Pick up tickets here.

3. Drive Time Drag

Start your engines and sashay your way to the Ibrox Stadium for this drive-in drag show. Prepare for thrills, chills, splits and giggles as you’re joined by some of the Queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, including Baga Chipz, Divina De Campo and Vinegar Strokes. Tuck into tasty food from some of the best local food trucks onsite whilst you enjoy spectacular performances, side-splitting comedy sets and eye-popping costumes from these drag queens. The clubs may still be closed, but this Drive Time Drag event will bring the party to you!

4. The Wizard of Oz Drive-In Panto

Pantos aren’t just for Christmas as this May you can witness a performance full of twists, turns and shouts of “It’s behind you!” Follow the story down the the yellow brick road from the comfort of your own car with this drive-in pantomime performance of The Wizard of Oz. Cheer, boo and hiss along to a professionally-produced live production of this classic tale. Get tickets before they’re gone.

5. Drive-In Comedy

Another great opportunity to laugh out loud, this drive-in comedy show is taking place at the Ibrox Stadium this May – where guests will get to enjoy some fantastic performances by some of the biggest names in comedy. After the past year mainly being indoors, we’re all definitely keen to get out of the house, as well as in need of some light-hearted entertainment, and this night full of humorous performances is sure to do the trick. Plus, you can listen to some great music from live DJs before the comedy show kicks off. Pick up your tickets here.
