Will it snow in Glasgow?
Snow is actually possible in Glasgow this time, with an accumulation of 1-2cm on the ground. Higher areas are expected to get between 2 and 5 centimetres of snow, with a maximum of 10 centimetres in some local areas further up North.
The Met Office said: “Snow showers affecting high ground are expected to start to fall to low levels through Thursday evening and overnight. Due to the showery nature, accumulations of snow will vary, but on low ground, 1-2 cm is possible in places by Friday morning, while on hills above 300 metres, accumulations of 2 to 5, perhaps very locally 10 cm are possible. In addition to the snow, temperatures will fall quickly, and this is likely to lead to ice on untreated surfaces.”
The Met Office forecast for Thursday says: “Cloudy with rain, sleet and hill snow clearing to the south through the morning to leave a largely dry afternoon with bright or sunny spells developing. Strong winds easing. Maximum temperature 5 °C.”
While the forecast for the period between Friday, February 13 and Sunday, February 15 said: “A few coastal showers Friday, otherwise dry with sunny spells. Dry on Saturday with sunshine in the morning, turning cloudier later. Cloudy with rain and hill snow spreading east Sunday.”
