The Commonwealth Games 2026 are starting in Glasgow on Thursday, July 23, bringing a large number of visitors to the city for its duration, until August 2. The games are taking place at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Arena, Scotstoun Stadium and the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).
As a result, commuters are advised to plan ahead, as road closures and busier-than-usual conditions are expected.
What is more, while public transport is operating as normal, it’s set to be busy at peak times, especially in main transport hubs and around the venues before and after sessions. So, we have put together a full list of road closures during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.
