There is just something about that feeling after going to the sauna, with the skin feeling refreshed and the mind just that little bit clearer. And now, Glaswegians can make the most of the health benefits of hot and cold therapy as Glasgow Community Sauna has kicked off its soft launch last week.
Located at Pollokshields on McCulloch Street in the Southside of Glasgow, the Glasgow Community Sauna is a not-for-profit, queer-led project, part of the Community Sauna Baths (CSB) network. Offering affordable sauna and cold plunges and an inclusive space, Glaswegians can now become a part of a friendly community.
The spot is conveniently located only a ten-minute walk from Pollockshields East station, as well as a 12-minute walk from Shields Road.
Community Sauna Baths has now expanded their network across the UK from London, with their first stop being Bristol in 2024.
Visitors can enjoy a sauna repurposed from a horse box, cold plunges in wooden barrels, accessible changing facilities and a cosy fire space and relaxation area – as the fun doesn’t have to end after the sauna! Plus, Glasgow Community Sauna has a wee pond to collect plunge water and help encourage biodiversity, and yes, there are frogs!
Glasgow Community Sauna states on their website: “We’re more than just a sauna, working in partnership with Bowling Green Together, we want to enhance the space by welcoming more people to the Bowling Green, especially during the colder months.”
And when we say it’s affordable, we really mean it – a one-hour 15-minute sauna and cold plunge session is only £10 per person, and you can also rent the whole sauna out for just £60! What is more, concession tickets are £7 per person.
Glasgow Community Sauna is located on McCulloch St, Glasgow, G41 1SU, and you can book your session here. When visiting, please adhere to the dress code and etiquette rules.
