What would you do if you found £1,000 on the street? Would you keep it? Or hand it into the nearest police station? Well, the vast majority of Glaswegians are actually genuine people who would do the kind thing to turn the money in. As a result, Glasgow was named the most honest city in the UK, according to a new study.
Apparently, even pocketing £10 or £20 you found on the street could be considered breaking the law! A survey by Digital PR Agency asked 3,800 Brits who would keep £1,000 if they found it on the floor, and who would hand it to the police. Overal, the 47% of those surveyed would keep the money, with a 53% majority who would turn it in.
Glasgow and Liverpool took joint first place as the most honest city in the UK, with 65% of its respondents saying they would hand in the money and 35% would keep it.
Newcastle came third, while Edinburgh was named the fourth most honest city in the UK.
Sheffield and Cardiff took joint fifth place, also proving to be honest cities with 57% of people choosing to turn in the money.
The most dishonest city in the UK is Nottingham, with 53% of the respondents having reporting keeping the £1,000. The second most dishonest was London, with 51% of people having said they would pocket the money.
