Just as we thought the weather is becoming more Spring-like, BBC Weather has forecast wintery weather for Scotland once again. What is more, The Met Office has issued Amber Weather Warnings for snow for the upcoming three days.
BBC Weather states: “After a cold and bright start, tomorrow [March 15] will see cloud build in from the southwest during the afternoon. Longer spells of rain and hill snow will arrive by the end of the day.”
On Thursday, March 16 will see heavy rain and higher temperature, and on Friday, March 17 looks like it’s going to continue with rain and cloud cover.
It looks like the temperatures are going to plummet to as low as -6 tonight, so locals will need to grab those winter coats and snow shoes if heading out.
The Met Office predictions show a possibility of wintry snow showers developing from mid afternoon for Wednesday, March 15.
In their long range weather forecast between March 16 and March 19, The Met Office said: “Unsettled, but much milder than recently, with spells of occasionally heavy rain, especially Thursday and again on Saturday, or showers.”
And The Met Office’s long range forecast shows more temperamental weather between March 19 and 28: “More wet and windy weather arrives into the west, becoming widespread into the start of next week. Thereafter, confidence is generally reduced but most likely remaining unsettled, with periods of rain and strong winds expected for many areas at times.”
“There is likely to be a continued risk of snow in northern parts of the country, particularly across higher ground of Scotland, and perhaps some wintry showers for the far north.”
So, it looks like it’s going to get cold regardless, with the likelihood of snow showers throughout the period. All we can do is put on a brave face and layer up and try get through this with plenty of hot drinks. I don’t know about you, but I’m considering bringing back mulled wine.
