Okay, while there is no need to panic just yet, Glasgow has a Yellow Weather Warning in place as of this morning (July 16). The warning is affecting multiple areas in Scotland, and is set to last all day.
The Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for Glasgow and surrounding areas, and as far up as Aberdeen. People should expect heavy, slow-moving showers, which could result in travel disruptions. The warning is in effect for both rain and thunderstorms on July 16 between 8am and 8pm.
So far, there have been no train cancellations, but watch this space for any updates and be prepared for possible delays.
The Met Office said: “Some places staying dry but slow-moving, heavy showers are likely to lead to some disruption, particularly to transport. What should I expect?
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
- There is a small chance that a few properties could be temporarily flooded in the heaviest showers.
Heavy showers are expected to develop during Tuesday morning, then become more widespread and slow-moving across the east of the warning area during the afternoon. Whilst many places will miss the worst, where showers do occur, 15-20 mm rainfall is likely within an hour, and perhaps 30 to 40 mm in 1 to 2 hours in a few places. The odd lightning strike is also possible. Showers will steadily ease during the evening.”
