Ah, the joys of modern dating. With the whole world at our fingertips on a screen, as well as the illusion of choice on dating apps, many people in Scotland and around the globe have become victims of ghosting. It’s when someone you’re dating completely disappears and stops responding as if they never existed.
Some could say this is due to the inability to face difficult emotions, be it your own or someone else’s, or someone simply having a secret family they never told you about. Either way, being ghosted just sucks, and leaves one confused and upset not knowing why it didn’t work out (even worse when they come back months after to haunt you again, though). However, those who have been ghosted in the past can officially attend a singles dating event, Ghost Bru-Sters, this Halloween.
The event is hosted by Irn-Bru and El Perro Negro, offering Gen Z singles to find love in person, with no hauntings in sight. The dating mixer has been put in place after finding out Scotland’s dating scene is being haunted by the spread of ghosting with half of young Glaswegians having experienced the phenomenon, according to research done by IRN-BRU.
El Perro Negro on Woodlands Road will be transformed into a spooky dating night like no other, with tricks and treats, as well as an Irn-Bru-inspired menu and cocktail selection. Daters can expect Irn-Bru pulled pork sliders alongside veggie deep-fried haggis with BRU sauce and one of the OG “Ghost BRU-sters” Dan will also be there to help make matches happen.
Plus, those who share their ghosting stories with Dan could win a couple of tickets to the event for them and their pal. To win, simply send @irnbru a wee DM on Instagram.
Dan Harry said: “Heartache shouldn’t haunt anyone’s Halloween so I’m reaching out to spirited singles who have been ghosted to guide them to resurrect their love lives. Together with IRN-BRU we want to hear your ghost(ed) stories to get the chance to exorcise those dating demons and maybe even find a kindred spirit. I’ll be on hand to pair up potential matches, helping to banish any would-be ghosts this Halloween.”
