We may already be pretty content with all the Kentucky fried glory that Colonel Sanders has to offer, but Asia’s favourite fried chicken joint – Jollibee – is set to roll into town this spring, taking up a vacant plot on Glasgow’s busy Sauchiehall Street. Offering ‘fast food favourites’ with a ‘Filipino flair’, the Philippines-born fast food restaurant serves up quite the array of dishes – not only specialising in hand-breaded fried chicken, but also serving up wraps, rice bowls, beef burgers, hot dog spaghetti, loaded fries and so much more.
Branching out to the UK just three years ago, Jollibee has found success across London, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh and more, with Glasgow and Manchester set to follow suit really soon.
Jollibee claims to serve up “the crispiest, juiciest, next-level tasty fried chicken”, which is aptly called Chickenjoy and is hand-breaded with a thin delicate coating for extreme crispiness, cooked with precision for maximum juiciness, and marinated to the bone for next-level flavour. They also serve up a Spicy Chickenjoy, the fiery version of the best-selling Chickenjoy.
Other menu highlights that boast Jollibee’s signature ‘tropical’ twist include their Tropical Chicken Burger – topped with fried chicken, pineapple and Asian ginger chilli sauce – alongside their Sriracha loaded fries and hot dog topped spaghetti. Jollibee Glasgow will be open from March 25 and will be taking over the former Burger King location on the junction of Sauchiehall Street and Renfield Street.
