Winter Snow is coming. Or at least, it seems to be. We’re fairly certain at this point that it is. First it was Emilia Clarke, who confirmed in a BBC interview that a Jon Snow spinoff of the Game of Thrones series was in the works. Now George R. R. Martin has entered the conversation, not just confirming that the show is a thing, but also his own involvement in it.
Writing on his blog, Martin said that “there is a Jon Snow show in development” and that the “working title for the show is SNOW”. He also confirmed Clarke’s statement that the Jon Snow spinoff was Kit Harrington’s idea. Harrington has apparently picked his own team of writers and showrunners for the show, and they have already started works with Martin and his team on hammering out script and story.
Earlier this month, HBO responded to rumours floating around the internet of the show’s existence with a tongue-in-cheek tweet. It’s not not a confirmation, but the recent revelations from showrunners and actors just affirms that they were definitely winking away as they did their best Ygritte impression.

‘Snow’ unofficially joins a number of other Game of Thrones spinoffs, including ‘House of The Dragon’, which is slated for release this August. There are also a number of animated series’ in the works, as well as three other live-action successors: ‘Ten Thousand Ships’, ‘Sea Snake’, also known as ‘Nine Voyages’, and ‘The Hedge Knight’ or ‘Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’.
Ahead of an official statement from HBO, however, it’s clear that all (or almost all) involved are remaining pretty tight-lipped about the whole affair.
