The trouble with fame is that once you hit the big time, it can be difficult to keep things simple. Tours get longer. Venues get larger. The music gets louder. Well, Lewis Capaldi – the Scottish pop singer – will strip things back for his next series of gigs, which sees him travel to Glasgow for an intimate acoustic set.
To promote the release of the new album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent (which releases May 19), the 26-year-old will perform new songs and hold a fan Q&A at five venues across the UK. He’ll be stopping by his hometown on May 21 for a special acoustic performance at SWG3. One of his smallest shows in six years! Before that, he’ll also be in Dundee on May 20.
Lewis Capaldi broke the news on Instagram by saying: “UK pals! am SO excited to announce my smallest shows since 2017!!!! going to be doing a Q&A about the new album and singing a few tunes acoustically at some really small venues during album release week!!!!! is all supporting local record stores, tickets will be around £20 and include a copy of the album supporting your local record store!!! it all goes on sale this friday at 10AM at lewiscapaldi.com x”
If you want to hear stripped-back versions of your favourite songs or you have a burning question to ask, then this might be your best opportunity. The superstar Scottish singer is on a meteoric rise and it’s unlikely we’ll see an intimate performance like this again for a while.
These shows are being put on in partnership with independent record stores, with the Glasgow gig helping to support Assai Records. You’ll be able to get your tickets for £20 from 10am this Friday here. In the meantime, fans of Lewis Capaldi can watch his documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now on Netflix now.
