Glaswegian patter strikes again, and even the ‘Batman: Part II’ filming staff cannot escape us. Apparently, every night, the film crew has had to clear a bunch of Irn-Bru cans from the set every night, leaving them a wee bit frustrated with the locals.
Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman: Part II’ has been shooting for a week now, attracting plenty of onlookers trying to take a peek into the action. As a beloved Scottish drink, Irn-Bru would not be particularly native to Gotham City, making it the mission of the people of Glasgow to pay homage to the iconic filming location that is our city.
Each evening, Irn-Bru cans have been found in various props of the film set, including trash cans and prop hot dog carts.
X user @brodycantskate posted: “Went to The Batman 2 set in Glasgow and one of the security people said that they have to search the set for Irn Bru cans every night because the locals are trying to sneak one into the film and they keep popping up in the bins and hot dog stands.”
One commenter wrote: “im ngl i didnt pay much attention to brand new day bc i spent most of the film looking for Glasgow-based continuity errors in the background”, while another said: “Are hot dog stands an usual thing in Glasgow?”. And no, hot dog stands are not, at all, a usual thing in Glasgow!
And, of course, we shouldn’t put it past Glaswegians to try and sneak a cone in either, as one commenter remarked: “Typical Glesga folk! No doubt try and sneak traffic cones somewhere, too!”, and another person said: “The Irn-Bru cans are a decoy so that traffic cones can be placed on statues”.
Well, Glaswegians sure are on a mission, but it seems like the film crew is pretty on it, so we probably won’t be able to catch a glimpse of the iconic drink in the new ‘Batman: Part II’ movie, but we sure appreciate the patter.
