A huge surf resort has taken over a 60-acre country park just under an hour’s drive from Glasgow. As a result, the new establishment became “Europe’s biggest inland surfing destination”, attracting surfers from all over the country, and, possibly, from around the continent. Lost Shore Surf Resort has opened in November 2024, changing Scottish tourism to even more adventurous heights.
Lost Shore Surf Resort is located in Newbridge, around six miles away from Edinburgh Airport. The resort boasts a 160-metre-long inland wave pool bigger than three football fields, wooden lodges for a luxurious stay, glamping pods, a spa, restaurants and shops. Basically, you will never need to leave the place!
As well as being the biggest inland surfing resort in Europe, the designers of the pool, Wavegarden, claim it is “the most advanced on the planet”. The wave pool can produce up to 1000 waves per hour “with a simple push of a button”, as well as boasts 52 software-driven modules. This means surfers can ride the waves for up to 22 seconds on 20 different kinds of waves. WHAT!
Marc Crothall MBE, Chief Executive of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, said: “This spectacular resort is going to be a real game changer for Scottish tourism. Not only will this attract people from all over the UK, but from right across the world.”
“To have an asset like this just 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and on the doorstep of an already world-famous tourism destination is fantastic.”
