While Glasgow is abundant in great burger joints, one in particular keeps standing out at the National Burger Awards. El Perro Negro has won two awards already, and is officially in the running to win once again.
This year, 16 chefs from burger spots across the UK will take part in the live final of the National Burger Awards, competing with their signature recipes in front of a panel of industry judges. El Perro Negro is competing with The Top Dog burger once again (and yes, it’s just THAT good, I’ve tried it).
The National Burger 2026 Awards final is happening at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow on Tuesday, March 24. On top of making their signature burgers, finalists will have a technical challenge creating a burger from a selection of sponsor ingredients. There will also be a plant-based burger round, sponsored by Redefine Meat.

What is more, The Great Shake Challenge is coming back for another year, determining the best milkshake in the UK by a different selection of finalists.
Tristan O’Hana, editorial director of Dine Out magazine, which organises the event, said: “We’re back with more burgers that seriously mean business. This year’s line-up strikes the perfect balance between previous champions, those who have come so close to glory, and then the outfits who are making their debut – we’re in for some serious competition.”
