Summer is finally here. And to celebrate its arrival, we are bringing you some more inspo on where to plan a family road trip outside of the city with Enterprise. Our destination of choice for July is the Isle of Great Cumbrae. Known for its scenic coastal landscape, the island is full of picturesque spots for a picnic, along with an exciting array of attractions and watersports activities. Plus, it’s only around 1.5 hours’ drive outside of Glasgow!

1. Enjoy old world entertainment at Garrison Funfair

2. Boat around the beautiful island
One of the best ways to admire the spectacular landscape in all of its glory, is definitely from the water. Skippered by an expert, Cumbrae Voyages will take you on an adventure around the Cumbraes and the lower Clyde. Trips vary in length, but whichever you go for, there’s a high chance you’ll spot some wildlife along the way. Seals, oystercatchers, gannets and cormorants are all sighted daily in these waters. But if you’re extra lucky, you could be in with a chance of spotting porpoises, dolphins, and even whales – so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
3. Take to the water on a paddleboard
If your family is particularly fond of being in the water, you may want to take your water-based adventure to the next level.
