Scotland’s finest bars and pubs have been revealed at a prestigious awards ceremony, Scottish Bar & Pub Awards 2022, on August 30. The most anticipated award was Sunday Mail Pub of the Year, which was won by The Palais. The Glasgow gastro pub marked a great achievement for the Glasgow hospitality scene, and we couldn’t be happier!
Hundreds of Scotland’s licenced trade gathered together to celebrate their achievements, enjoying entertainment from Abba MANIA. Categories such as Kopparberg’s New Pub of the Year, Hi Spirits Best Live Music Venue and even Antos Dog Friendly Pub of the Year were amongst many others and the winners were announced amongst 75 finalists.
Dubbed the hospitality Oscars, the event saw over 27 venues and individuals pick up the highly anticipated awards from all over the country, and Glasgow did us proud. The Piper Whisky Bar was awarded The Whiskey Bar of the Year, Eusebi Deli won the Stoli Sustainability Award and Scoop Restaurants, operators of world-renowned venues Ka Pao and Ox and Finch, took the Independent Operator of the Year award.
Organiser Susan Young said, “It’s been another incredible year for the annual Scottish Bar and Pub Awards as we’ve recognised some of the most creative, hard-working and beloved venues in the country. Following a difficult few years for the licensed trade, it’s fantastic to see so many venues dedicate their time to staff training, inventive menus and new initiatives. Congratulations everyone and thanks for once again helping us shine a spotlight on Scotland’s best venues!”
The Palais, is a proper neighbourhood bar serving locally sourced pub inspired food. Their obsession with dogs is contagious and we’ve been low-key stalking their Instagram story highlights with zero shame. Head down to The Palais for a cracking Sunday roast or if you’re after something different, go for the Scottish mussels cooked in a creamy white wine sauce. The gastro pub also hosts live music on Mondays and pub quizzes on Thursdays, and has been the neighbourhood jewel since the dance hall shut down.
