Honestly, who doesn’t love wandering through a sea of lavender?
Purple fields of lavender usually aren’t the first thing that springs to mind when you picture Scotland. However, what if we told you there is an enchanting spot just an hour away from Glasgow where you can easily pretend you’ve been transported to the South of France?
Offering a blissful daytime escape from urban life, Scottish Lavender Oils is home to thousands of these fragrant plants, perfect for a day trip. The spot is officially unlocking its gates for the summer, announcing its dates for summer 2026.
Situated at Tarhill Farm in Kinross, Scottish Lavender Oils is a homegrown, family-run business that places a huge emphasis on sustainable practices. The primary mission of the farm is cultivating lavender, which is harvested to extract essential oils that power their very own fragrance line, St Andrews Perfumery.
In addition to the purple rows of flowers, Tarhill Farm nurtures various other herbs like Rosemary, Clary Sage, Mints, and Chamomile, all destined for essential oil extraction. Best of all, Scottish Lavender Oils opens its doors to the public during peak bloom just before harvest season arrives, delivering a whimsical little getaway that makes you forget you are even in Scotland.
The opening dates of Scottish Lavender Oils for 2026
For 2026, Scottish Lavender Oils is welcoming the public into their fields from Saturday, July 4, through to August 9. Guests can take advantage of the daily tours, which only run for a brief five-week window during the peak summer months. Because the season wraps up in mid-August, you definitely won’t want to delay your visit.
The operating hours are set from 11am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a restricted number of tour slots every hour. You can arrive during these standard operational hours by buying a general admission pass, which costs £10 for adults and £4 for children, meaning there is no requirement to reserve a slot for a specific tour time. By the way, Scottish Lavender Oils have kept their ticket prices unchanged since 2023!
Beyond discovering the secrets of lavender cultivation, guests will also have the opportunity to wander through a wildflower meadow to snap a few more Insta-worthy moments. Just keep in mind that four-legged friends will have to stay home, as dogs are not allowed on the fields.
Scottish Lavender Oils is located at Tarhill Farm, Kinross KY13 9EZ, and you can book your tickets here.
