Nico Simeone, a renowned Scottish-Italian chef, opened his third Six by Nico location in Glasgow on February 27. Located on Byres Road, the new restaurant took over the former record store Fopp and will follow in the footsteps of his Six by Nico restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London Canary Wharf, and Dublin, featuring a carefully curated, constantly evolving tasting menu. The new spot shows guests how food can tell an elaborate story by using ever-changing tasting experiences and not words.
Nico Simeone is a Glasgow-born chef to an Italian family. Having grown up an a Mediterranean foodie background, Chef’s earliest memories are of his mother’s Italian cooking, helping her in the kitchen and large family meals around the table. His colourful career led him to own a total of eleven restaurant around Scotland, England and Ireland, as well as a BBC Scotland series Nico’s Menu Mission (available on iPlayer).
The brand new Byres Road restaurant features a carefully curated and constantly evolving tasting menu. Nico and his team will re-invent the dining experience every six weeks, serving a brand new six-course tasting menu, each one themed on a different place, memory, or idea.
Six by Nico understands the importance of both creating memories and bringing back long lost memories through a tasting experience by combining different ingredients, flavours, and dishes. Chef and the team draws inspiration from both at home and abroad, such as the street markets of the Middle East to a journey across Route 66 in America.
The 52 capacity restaurant, located in the leafy West End of Glasgow, is known for its top attractions, quirky lanes (such as our all time fave Ashton Lane) and amazing food scene. Each menu at Six by Nico tells a different story, taking guests on a new and exciting journey each time they visit, using food as the bespoke storyteller. Each new chapter will be a surprise, and new menus are revealed two weeks before the next theme.
