That’s right, Glasgow is serving as a stunning backdrop for the newest Spider-Man franchise movie, which started filming on August 1. Glasgow is set to become New York City’s double, resulting in 60 street closures over a period of two weeks.
‘Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day’ stars the real-life couple Tom Holland and Zendaya, and who knows, you might even get the chance to spot a glimpse of the stars while walking around Glasgow! Other stars set to film in the movie are Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, as well as Sadie Sink from ‘Stranger Things’ and Liza Colón-Zayas from ‘The Bear’. The movie is also directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
Tom Holland said about returning to the role: “I’m obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, and I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie.
“We shot the entire film on stages. Now we’re really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow. We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be filming in Glasgow between August 1 and August 15, with road closures commencing from July 31.
Which Glasgow roads and areas will face closures?
Bothwell Street, Blythswood Street, and West Campbell Street will be closed for a period of eight days, as well as others. Moreover, some key city centre roads, including Hope Street and Renfield Street, will be closed for four days.
What is more, pedestrians will also not be allowed into the areas during “action”, while emergency services will be permitted to carry out their duties when needed.
