Some quiet time doing arts and crafts is, simply, just good for the soul. Working with your hands and putting all your creative energy into making something puts you in a meditative state, providing that quiet satisfaction once a new creation is born – no matter how “professional” it looks. The joy of creating is being celebrated at The Craft Pottery Sister Studio Festival this September, where pottery lovers can gather in one place for some ceramics-themed fun.
The Craft Pottery Sister Studio Festival is taking place at the Axiom Building on Washington Street between September 24 and 29, hosting a series of events for art lovers to participate in.
Festival goers can get immersed in an abundance of interactive experiences, including kiln tours, live pottery wheel demonstrations and hands-on workshops where visitors can have a go at ceramic earring making, tile painting, and even a cowboy boot and hat class.
What is more, there is a chance to paint your own Croc Jibbitz and learn the art of pottery in expert-led lessons.

The Craft Pottery’s fan-favourite event — a city-wide scavenger hunt – is also returning. On Sunday, DIY pottery kits will be hidden across Glasgow, waiting to be discovered by lucky participants.
A pottery-themed pub quiz will be on offer for the competitive souls out there, challenging teams to test their knowledge while enjoying a pint at the studio.
Beth Hoad, director of The Craft Pottery said: “In the nine years we’ve been operating The Craft Pottery, Glasgow’s love of ceramics grow and grow – that’s why we decided to create a festival all about pottery.
We love working with our sister studio, The Craft Pottery Studio, who will be offering a range of practical workshops and demonstrations throughout the week.
There are events for people of all skills and experience, so whether you’re a seasoned potter or a complete beginner, we hope there’s something for everyone at our week-long celebration of all things ceramic!”
