Ayr is a quaint seaside town that offers a wee escape from the busy city life just an hour’s drive from Glasgow. However, the quaint seaside life is not what people have been talking about all weekend – it’s Aldo’s Fish & Chips that has been making the news recently about a brand new addition to its menu – deep-fried creme eggs. As Christmas is over and done with, supermarkets have been stocking up with Easter chocolate, including plenty of creme eggs to feed the whole country.
This surely brings a new meaning to the question ‘how do you eat your creme eggs’, yet us weegies will eat anything deep fried. Aldo’s is also known for other random deep-fried food items such as battered pickled onions, so we look forward to what else they will throw in the deep fryer next: we’ll try it!
For those making the trip to Ayr to try the exciting new addition to the menu, might as well make it a wee day trip. After you’ve tried those deep-fried creme eggs, take a walk on the long sandy beach, or visit Rabbie Burn’s hometown at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.
Plus, you can opt for a round of golf at one of the three local golf courses: Belleisle, Seafield and Dalmilling.
