The five-star hotel and spa, Crossbasket Castle, is undergoing a huge £15 million expansion and has uncovered some of the specifics we can expect ahead of its opening this summer. The East Kilbride destination spot is getting a brand-new fine-dining restaurant piloted by Michelin Star Chef Chef Michel Roux Jr.
Reopening its doors in August 2024 just 30 minutes from Glasgow, Crossbasket Castle boasts 40 bedrooms and two ecological lodges, a restaurant, as well as a more remote spa within two lodges. While the luxury hotel already had a restaurant, part of the expansion project is to invest more in fine dining, making the restaurant a destination in itself.
The restaurant is being named Trocadero’s by owners Steve and Alison Timoney, inspired by the 1950s dance hall in Hamilton. The concept will not only focus on fine dining, but also on live music and entertainment every single night.
On top of having a colourful culinary career, Michelin Star Chef Michel Roux Jr was also a judge on Masterchef the Professionals. He has been looking after the restaurant at Crossbasket Castle since 2016.
Chef said: “Trocadero’s is going to be the talk of the town and the most iconic venue in Scotland. Fabulous, delicious food, great entertainment, and somewhere people will want to keep coming back to time and time again.”
Alison Timoney said: “We want Trocadero’s to be somewhere our guests experience the finer things, where they can truly indulge and get lost in the nostalgia of a golden era. We have worked hard to develop this unique concept, which complements the luxury and romance of the beautiful surroundings whilst bringing a vibrant and tantalising new experience.”
Steve Timoney said: “We took inspiration from Glasgow’s legendary live music scene and the enthusiasm and energy of its audiences. Scotland has a long history of excellent live music and talented performers, and we want to showcase that to allow our guests to kick up their heels and have fun whilst enjoying exceptional food in a sensational venue. Every city offers great quality restaurants but what we’re creating at Trocadero’s is truly unique.”
