With the Halloween weekend fast approaching, we’d better start making plans. Glasgow’s iconic spot the Barras Market is welcoming Halloween enthusiasts at the end of this month to not only do some shopping, but also put their best Halloween costumes to use. And it’s free!
The Barras Market Halloween Special will take place on Thursday, October 30 between 5pm and 10pm, bringing all the spooky vibes, themed stalls from local businesses and entertainment. This is a one-off event, so best to not sleep on it. This year, the market is Addams Family-themed, so guests can expect plenty of photo ops, as well as live performances.
5pm will be kicked off with a DJ set, with further entertainment promised throughout. What is more, there should be a fancy dress competition on the spot, and the best costume will receive a special award, therefore winning Halloween. Plus, there will be 100 stalls with plenty of spooky things to choose from, as well as street food and drinks!

The Barras Market has been around since 1888, starting off with humble beginnings with a small fruit shop on Main Street, Bridgeton. The current location of The Barras Market on London Road has been around since 1921, when James and Maggie McIver started the new market after the First World War. Initially, the market sold anything and everything from furniture to a single needle. Maggie McIver was also the founder of the Barrowland Ballroom, one of the most famous entertainment venues in Glasgow today.
