Ben Nevis: The pride and joy of Scotland, a beloved landmark, and apparently, a social media influencer all on its own. Who’d have thought it?
Joining some of the most impressive mountains in the world, Ben Nevis has been named one of the most popular mountains in Europe – sitting just behind the likes of Switzerland’s Matterhorn and Italy’s Tre Cime di Lavaredo, which is no small feat when you think about the (initial) exoticness of those locations.
Ranked after analysing social media posts on both Tiktok and Instagram, entertainment site CanadaCasino are behind the study, and found that according to the sheer number of social media posts created by visitors, Ben Nevis was the fourth most popular mountain in the entirety of Europe. We can’t say we find it hard to believe given the fact that 150,000 people hike up her per year, and… you know… the other fact that she’s right here in beautiful Scotland.
In addition to being one of the most popular (and most photographed) in Europe, their findings also indicated that Ben Nevis was 16th most picturesque in the world (thanks to a whopping quarter of a million social media posts), with Mount Fuji – understandably – nabbing the top spot globally. We’re proud of you, Ben.
