The UK has plenty of spots to brag about, from the rolling hills of the Lake District and Wales, to the pristine beaches and historic cities all around. However, one Scottish city received special recognition for 2026 as the best place to visit in the UK, making the top of TimeOut’s list.
Stirling is officially the best place to visit in the UK, promising a memorable getaway for everyone who makes the journey, whether from near or far. The inclusion is inspired by Lumo’s new direct train service to London, which started this year.
What is more, Stirling is famous for its historical importance, including the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle, as well as being in close proximity to the Highlands. Guests have easy access to stunning locations, such as Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, where they can soak in scenic vistas, go on a hike and enjoy nature.

Stirling Distillery also got a mention, as it is due for its first batch of whisky this year, while Stirling Cocktail Week is set to take over the city with £5 cocktails.
The list continued with Hastings and St Leonards taking the second spot, while Stockport ranked third on the list of the best places to visit in the UK. Scotland continued its streak, with Edinburgh coming fourth in the ranking and Cirencester in the Cotswolds completing the top five. Glasgow did end up making the list, but it ranked 14th.
