With the rising costs of living, people are finding it harder to be parents in certain cities. In fact, 83% of British people claim it is more difficult to raise a family because of how expensive life is getting, according to a recent study. And apparently, Glasgow is officially one of the best places to raise a family in the UK.
Shepherds Friendly looked into the cities across the UK to determine the best places to raise a family, and we are not, at all, surprised by Glasgow making the list.
The research has analysed the 39 most populated cities across the UK based on property prices, the cost of rent, utilities, and childcare, as well as the average monthly salary and the happiness levels in each city.
Peterborough was named the best place to raise a family in the UK, while Glasgow took the ninth place on the list. The average cost to rent a three-bedroom home in Glasgow is £1,225, and the average property price is £150,125. Costs of utilities come down to £280 on average, while the usual cost of childcare is £867 a month. The average salary for workers is £34,381 and the happiness score was 7.1.
As the number one on the list, Peterborough’s average property prices are quite high at £235,000, renting a three-bed home is only £992. The utilities also cost only £190, and the cost of childcare is £700 on average. The median salary is £32,941 and the happiness score was 7.3.
