Candlelight Wine in Glasgow is bringing a brand-new sensory experience to the city this season.
While Glasgow today is famous for its whisky, the city has a long, rich history as a major merchant hub, importing fine French clarets and European wines to supply Scotland since the 17th century. Now, that heritage of enjoying fine wine is returning to the city with a modern twist.
Candlelight Wine: A Tasting Guided by Music – Waitlist
BAaD – Barras Art & Design
What is Candlelight Wine?
Candlelight Wine is a brand-new, 70-minute tasting experience that pairs five expert-curated wines with live classical music from a professional string quartet. Instead of a sommelier at the front, one of the musicians leads the evening — introducing each wine, then matching it with a live piece while you sip. It’s Candlelight’s signature candlelit setting, now with a glass in hand.
Where is Candlelight Wine taking place?
Most of us know the Barras as a market. Yet in the heart of Barras Market, in Glasgow’s East End, sits Barras Art & Design (BAaD), where a glass-roofed courtyard lets natural light pour into the main space. It’s an unexpected home for an evening of strings and wine — and that’s half the charm.

Join the waitlist now for exclusive presale access on 27 October, a day before tickets go on sale to everyone else on 28 October. The first evening takes place on 15 January, and it’s strictly 18+. Not a bad way to warm up a Glasgow January.
