As Christmas is approaching and Glasgow is officially in the winter season with the brisk Scottish cold at its peak, warming oneself up with a wee mulled wine is a given. All the spots around the city have become extra cosy with Christmas lights and decorations popping up, serving up all the festive favourites for everyone to enjoy. So, it is only fair we round up all the best mulled wine spots in Glasgow, as it’s one of the most festive things to do this Christmas.
1. Brel
It wouldn’t be a mulled wine in Glasgow list without Brel on Ashton Lane. You can enjoy a mulled wine or a hot toddy on the bar’s heated terrace with fire pits, as well as plenty of winter warmers to tuck into. Plus, guests can tuck into the festive cheese fondue and the Christmas dinner fondue! You can book your table here.
2. Marchtown
Located on Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow’s Shawlands, Marchtown has an exciting collection of festive drinks. The spot is now serving homemade mulled wine of the month, with a touch of Orange Rum or Amaretto. Plus this year the spot is also serving White Russians with a “unique milk-based Vodka”, Fortified Flight with Port, Sherry and Muscat paired with a pintxo of chocolate, almonds and nutty hard cheese. Visitors can also get Hard Prosecco with peach, plum or strawberry liqueur! As both a shop and a bar, Marchtown also boasts indoor seating, allowing visitors to sit in and sip on their drink of choice while catching up with friends and family, as well as purchase anything they like to take home with them, or as a wee Christmas present, while supporting a local business.
3. Winterfest at George Square
It wouldn’t be a Christmas market outing without a wee mulled wine to pair the experience with. The Winter Lodge at Winterfest at George Square is the place to be for some festive vibes in Glasgow with a mulled wine in hand. However, do expect plenty of crowds and steeper prices than you would in an ordinary bar. Plus, you have until January 5, 2025 to check it out over the festive season.
4. Jellyhill
Our little West End gem, Jellyhill is a cafe bar that has been around for twenty years. Expect a cosy rustic atmosphere, suitable for any time of the day. Guests can enjoy a classic mulled wine this season, as well as a wide selection of coffees, pastries, hand-prepared sandwiches, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, wines, beers and cocktails.
5. Ubiquitous Chip
Another foodie staple located in the charming Ashton Lane, Ubiquitous Chip has been around since 1971. This season, the spot is offering their very own mulled wine, alongside other festive cocktails. Visitors can also savour the Gingerbread Old Fashioned at The Big Pub.
6. Crescent Bar
Crescent Bar in Finnieston is a charming cocktail lounge located on the original site that was owned by wine and spirits merchant Archibald Cameron. The spot is not only serving up mulled wine this winter season but also mulled cider for those who prefer it.
