As Christmas is approaching and Glasgow is officially in the winter season with the brisk Scottish cold at its peak, warming oneself up with a wee mulled wine is a given. All the spots around the city have become extra cosy with Christmas lights and decorations popping up, serving up all the festive favourites for everyone to enjoy. So, it is only fair we round up all the best mulled wine spots in Glasgow, as it’s one of the most festive things to do this Christmas.
1. Platform 1
On top of having a packed programme of festive events and night Christmas markets, the newly-opened Platform 1 is serving up mulled wines for a wee wintery pick-me-up. The spot has also introduced a festive cocktail menu that includes a Hazelnut White Russian, a Cranberry and Orange Margarita, alongside hot chocolates, mulled wine and a Hot Bounty with Bacardí coconut, chocolate, whipped cream with a dusting of Cocoa powder. And for those who are a bit hungry, guests can enjoy small plates and stone-baked pizzas.
2. Marchtown
Located on Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow’s Shawlands, Marchtown has an exciting collection of festive drinks. The spot is now serving homemade mulled wine, German-style Glühwein, with a touch of Orange Rum or Amaretto. The place has also introduced Moreish Chocolate Rum available as a drink or a bottle. As both a shop and a bar, Marchtown also boasts indoor seating, allowing visitors to sit in and sip on their drink of choice while catching up with friends and family, as well as purchase anything they like to take home with them, or as a wee Christmas present, while supporting a local business.
3. Cup Tea Rooms
While a tea room is not the first place that comes to mind for mulled wine, Cup Tea Rooms in Merchant City has been serving the hot goodness to warm up our days. Whether you’re just after a drink or up for a festive afternoon tea experience, they’ve got you covered.
4. Jellyhill
Our little West End gem, Jellyhill is a cafe bar that has been around for twenty years. Expect a cosy rustic atmosphere, suitable for any time of the day. Guests can enjoy a classic mulled wine this season, as well as a wide selection of coffees, pastries, hand-prepared sandwiches, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, wines, beers and cocktails.
5. Ubiquitous Chip
Another foodie staple located in the charming Ashton Lane, Ubiquitous Chip has been around since 1971. This season, the spot is offering their very own mulled wine, alongside a Festive Margarita with caramelized white chocolate. Visitors can also savour the Gingerbread Old Fashioned at The Big Pub.
6. Crescent Bar
Crescent Bar in Finnieston is a charming cocktail lounge located on the original site that was owned by wine and spirits merchant Archibald Cameron. The spot is not only serving up mulled wine this winter season but also mulled cider for those who prefer it.
