Ready for razzle-dazzle by the bucketload, murder, quick quips, and the most glamorous felons you have ever seen? Then buckle up, because Chicago The Musical is set to return to Glasgow as part of its 2024/25 UK tour. And you best believe, I’m dusting off my Cell Block Tango already.
Coming to the King’s Theatre Glasgow this summer, theatre-goers will be able to enjoy the iconic musical for one week only, August 18 – 23, 2025, with a sure-to-be-stellar cast to be unveiled soon.
As part of the tour, the legendary Tony/Grammy/Olivier-winning show – which has been running since 1996 – will stop in a selection of UK cities, including Newcastle, Milton Keynes, and Manchester, with Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow just announced.

Now, unless you’ve been living off-grid, under a rock, or on a desert island somewhere with no Wifi whatsoever, you’ll know that Chicago is a smash hit of a Broadway and West End story, one which was even turned into a Hollywood blockbuster starring the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere back in 2002 – cementing its cult status of one of the best musicals of all time.
If you haven’t heard of it, however, the story goes a little like this: “Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her.
“Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.”

Attendees can expect to be once again charmed by its iconic soundtrack – including songs such as All That Jazz, We Both Reached for the Gun, and Nowadays – against the backdrop of the ornate 1800s Palace Theatre on Oxford Road.
Chicago will return to Glasgow between August 18 – 23, 2025, and tickets are on sale here.
