The pumpkin patches festival at M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park is over, and now is the time to start thinking about the things to do at Christmas. With Glasgow starting to look pretty festive, M&D’s is bringing Destination Christmas, a series of affordable festive events including ice skating, circus acts, Santa’s Grotto and more.
M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park is located in Strathclyde Country Park, Bellshill, just a 20-minute drive from central Glasgow. Kicking off Destination Christmas on November 23, the festivities will continue right up until December 24.
The highlight of the festive events programme is Santa’s Magical Circus. Performed by the Chipperfield family for more than 300 years, the famous circus act will feature a 45-minute performance, following the evil Jack Frost trying to cancel Christmas leaving Santa to save the day.
Guests can also expect to marvel at FMX motor stunt riders, aerial acrobatics, a dancing polar bear, music, comedy, Christmas sing-alongs and much more. Children from the audience will also be invited into the ring to unravel circus skills, such as juggling, unicycling, rolling the globe, and using ribbons and hula hoops.
What is more, the seasonal favourite is coming back for one more year, M&D’s On Ice, where friends and family can bring their ice skating skills to life on a full-size ice rink, featuring festive food and drink in the Bavarian Bar.
However, Believe in Santa with Santa himself in his magical grotto is what makes for a noteworthy Christmas experience. Santa’s Grotto includes festive storytelling where “the world of technology causes the children to lose their Christmas spirit until a secret family hidden in the Christmas tree reminds them of what they are missing”.
And that’s not all there is to discover: Sparkle the Elf will also be taking visitors aboard Santa’s Magical Land Train and a ticket includes hot chocolate and marshmallows to toast. Plus, guests can discover several festive rides in the Theme Park.
Jensen Taylor Connelly said: “This is undoubtedly our favourite time of year and we look forward to welcoming visitors to Destination Christmas. With its lovely themed decorations and variety of festive attractions, it’s just a magical time for everyone to enjoy.”
“We also have lots of different food options for people to try from take-away hot chocolates
and churros to our award-winning Monterey Jack’s restaurant and with free car parking people can
take their time and soak up the atmosphere.”
The most expensive ticket for the events costs a mere £12.95 for a child’s ticket to Believe in Santa, so it’s safe to say M&D’s have knocked it out of the park with their affordable Christmas events this year. Ice skating comes at £8.75 for adults and 6.95 for children and the circus show costs £12.25, and you can book all the events here.
