Sole Club is no more, having closed its doors after less than a year. However, it’s not all doom and gloom – a brand new restaurant is opening in its place, boasting pan-Asian influences. Extra_Ordinary is set to become Finnieston’s newest foodie destination, headed by Sydney-born Chef Tobias Fiegel.
Located at Six by Nico’s original site in Finnieston, Extra_Ordinary is replacing the speakeasy seafood restaurant Sole Club on Argyle Street. The intimate restaurant is set to open its doors on January 31, offering traditional Asian flare combined with innovative recipes.
Head Chef Tobias Fiegel is an Australian-Italian who grew up in Sydney , having worked in renowned restaurants in Australia, as well as Restaurant Geist and Geranium in Copenhagen and Restaurant Ask in Helsinki. Tobias then settled in Scotland to work for Stuart Ralston at Aizle and Nico Simeone at Six by Nico.
As a result, the menu at Extra_Ordinary features many components made from scratch with seasonal ingredients. Guests can expect dishes such as Kohlrabi Kimchi, Udon with XO mussels, Char Siu Chinese pancake, and Yuzu-Kosho tomato sashimi, with a focus on the quality and smoothness of the service.
Extra_Ordinary’s Chef Tobias Fiegel said: “Opening Extra_Ordinary is an incredibly exciting opportunity that enables me to combine my passion for various Asian cuisines and share them with the people of Glasgow. Essentially, this is the cuisine I like to prepare and eat, and I’m excited to have the chance to work with products and innovative techniques that I truly love in this setting.
Our menu has been meticulously developed to provide an exceptional blend of traditional Asian foods, with many components made from scratch and reinvented using creative recipes.”
Moreover, Extra_Ordinary offers a drinks menu with both local and international selections, including wine, sake, whiskey and cocktails, “all with a story to tell”.
Extra_Ordinary opens its doors on January 31, 2025 at 1132 Argyle St, Finnieston, Glasgow G3 8TD.
