A Glasgow pub will provide free breakfast for school children.
It was announced that all schools in the UK will close this week, so this brilliant initiative aims to help families that will inevitably find it difficult to feed their children during this time. [Featured Image: The Lovat Arms, Facebook]
The Lovat Arms announced yesterday they would be providing tea, toast, cereal and juice for all struggling families local to them at their Dumbarton Road spot.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit all corners of society hard and, at least until rumoured stricter measures come into play, it’s heartwarming that families can rest easier on this front. The pub also welcomes any food bank donations during this difficult period.
Local councillor Paul Carey was quick to champion the pub’s initiative.
“What these two lads are doing right now shows we have many different cultures, but we are one country and community spirit is important in times like these,” he said. “I’m very proud of these lads.”
Nobody knows what the future will hold in this uncertain period, but it’s inspiring to see the community rally around each other in ways like this.
