1. Culzean Castle & Country Park
This late 18th-century clifftop castle wouldn’t look out of place on the set of a Disney film or an award-winning period drama. Throughout the surrounding 260 hectare estate, you can explore everything from woods, beaches, and parkland to manicured gardens, fruit-filled glasshouses, swan ponds, and play areas. Wandering around this magnificent estate will truly transport you to another time entirely. And when you’re done adventuring, the Home Farm Kitchen and Home Farm Shop are great options to grab something delicious to eat.

2. Briarlands Farm

3. Dumfries House

Aside from being a wallet-friendly option, Dumfries House is a great place to get the kids engaged with a bit of 18th-century history. The estate itself is home to an unrivalled collection of Chippendale furniture, not to mention the exquisite neoclassical architecture, but there’s plenty more to see throughout the surrounding 2,000 acres of land. From the Queen Elizabeth Walled Garden and the wildlife-filled Arboretum to a brilliant adventure playground and the yew hedge maze, this tranquil heritage site has something for everyone in the family.
