Tonight (October 27), the doors to GlasGLOW are opening to the public, where the UK’s biggest Halloween event is delighting Glasgow’s Botanics once again. The show will welcome thousands of visitors over the next two weeks (October 27 – November 14) to explore themes of 80s movies, including Ghostbusters, with special appearances from the Ecto-mobile and a 20ft Marshmallowman full of discoveries for adventurers to uncover along the 60-minute route.
Some first-look insights from GlasGLOW look just as exciting, from drone images taken from above to light displays that are absolutely spooktacular, you can have a sneak peek at what to expect throughout.
The immensely popular event, produced by a team of world-class set and sound engineers, has been a sell-out every year since its beginning five years ago. And this year, it will be bringing back its famous Pumpkin Patch, Marshmallow Land and its street food village for those looking for a wee pick-me-up along the way.
As soon as you walk in, you’re transported into what feels like another world, another time. Overtaken by a sense of adventure and wonder, with a soundtrack composed by Glasgow sound designers Kev Murray and Novasound with Grant Anderson returning as lead lighting designer.
Oli Norman, founder of itison and GlasGLOW, said: “The clocks go back this Sunday and for Glasgow that means one thing – it’s time for GlasGLOW.
“This year’s event has been inspired by Ghostbusters and other nostalgic 80s movies and we’re really excited to open the gates tomorrow night – it’s a brilliant show and hope folk will enjoy it. Tickets are selling fast with opening week pretty much sold out so get in quick if you want to come along.
“We’re delighted to be bringing The itison Pumpkin Fund back this year with a really cool interactive installation – we will be supporting ten brilliant local charities and hope to smash the £15,000 we raised last year.”
The adventure trail will take up to 70 minutes, bringing chills and thrills to guests of all ages as well as some feel-good interactive light installations. The dopamine-inducing art installations will bring some anticipation and excitement to Glasgow as the days turn darker into October and the clocks go backwards on October 29.
