New Year, new fare increases: Glasgow Subway is raising their prices this January. However, don’t worry, it is not on the 1st of the month, so you don’t have to remember it right after the bells.
Starting on January 2, Glasgow Subway will see fare increases of 5p for single tickets, with £1.65 for using a Smartcard and £1.85 for a single-use ticket. Meanwhile, an adult Daily fare using a Smartcard will increase by 10p to £3.20, and an adult Return fare with a disposable ticket will be £3.50 and a Daily disposable ticket will now rise to £4.45.
Adult Subway Season tickets are also going up, with the Seven-Day ticket being £14 when bought online and £15 if you buy it at the station.
The 28-day Season ticket will now be £53.50 when bought online and £58 when purchased in stations. Moreover, the Glasgow Subway Six-Month ticket increases by £ 5, going up to £265 online or £285 in stations, and the adult Annual Ticket will be £485 online or £500 in stations.
However, Children’s fares remain the same, with Child Subway season tickets starting from as little as £6.50 for a Seven-Day ticket bought online.
After being introduced in September, 2024, SmartCard is still the cheapest way to travel via Glasgow Subway, ScotRail and bus services, letting commuters travel as far as Ayr. For the Subway, travel remains capped at £3.20 per day.
Park and Ride, including return Subway travel, is going up by 20p to £7.90 from January 2. Short-term parking will only increase at three park and ride sites – Bridge Street, Shields Road, and Kelvinbridge. The fare will see an increase of 5p for 30mins and will now be £1.05, while parking for one hour will increase to £2.05 and for two hours will be £3.10.
The Park & Ride Seven-Day season ticket is rising to £37, while the 28-Day season ticket will be £139. Finally, the Park & Ride Six-Month season ticket is going up to £695, and the Annual Season ticket will be £1,230.
