They say spirituality is the study of the spirit. While scientists have struggled to fully catch up with the matter so far, witches, warlocks, psychics and others within the community have been doing it for centuries, unlocking the secrets forgotten by time. Fortunately, time does not have amnesia: these secrets can still be uncovered at Glasgow Witchy Bazaar, which partnered with Edinburgh-based Midnight Lunar Market.
The market and “Rave’n Ball” will be popping up at BAaD this Halloween on Thursday, October 31 from 4pm until midnight (the market itself will be open until 7pm), and has a unique allure that draws in witchcraft and spirituality enthusiasts from all walks of life. You can top up your crystal collection, attend various talks, get a tarot card reading, or a holistic treatment, buy your first tarot deck or even join a coven. To further get into the witchy spirit, treat yourself to handmade magical jewellery, art from local artists or hand-poured candles.
As the market finishes at 7pm, the space at BAaD is set to turn into an Addam’s Family-themed “Rave’n Ball”. Guests can expect to see entertainment such as fire dancers and burlesque performers, alongside live music, drinks and food, as well as raffles on the day.
While the Halloween ball is a first-of-its-kind event, there will also be an ordinary Glasgow Witchy Bazaar taking place on August 11 at The Haberdashery between 12pm and 4pm. Previous events saw the likes of crystal healing and reiki sessions by Tranquil Therapies, tea leaf and card readings by Fiona Louise and past life readings by One Source Energy Healing. What is more, guests were able to shop all things herbs from Ann Herbalist, handmade gifts by Green Canary Gifts and more.
Plus, all guests will receive a gift (last time it was a tarot print, by the way) with their ticket, as well as free entry to all the talks. You can expect plenty of talks and educational chats on all things witchcraft at their very own Coven Corner, where spiritual leaders will expand on spellwork, spirituality and all that’s considered ‘woo woo stuff’.
Glasgow Witchy Bazaar is the perfect opportunity to mark the start of the year and wish winter a farewell, feed your curiosity or just join an inclusive, wholesome community full of kind people. Supporting local businesses and artists is at the heart of what they do, and the pop-up market is usually on regularly.
