‘Hopelessly devoted’ fans can now rejoice: ‘Grease’ The Musical has announced its full cast as it sets off on a UK and Ireland tour. Kicking off at Bromley on April 12, the tour will arrive at The King’s Theatre in Glasgow on June 17, and will stay until June 22 before heading to Edinburgh Playhouse.
‘Grease’, “the world’s best-loved musical”, tells a love story between polar opposites Danny and Sandy: a leather jacket-wearing “bad boy” and the typical “girl next door”. Delving into social issues such as teenage pregnancy, gang violence and peer pressure, the musical explores narratives of the influence of love and friendship and its dynamics, as well as rebellion and sexual exploration.
In the production, Marley Fenton will play Danny, Hope Dawe is set to star as Sandy, and Scottish actor Kieran Lynch, who recently played the lead role of Peter Pan at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre for Capital Theatres, stars as Doody.
Further principal roles will be played by Rebecca Stenhouse as Rizzo, George Michaelides as Kenickie, Lewis Day as Roger, Sario Solomon in the role of Sonny, Alicia Belgarde as Frenchy, Emerald B as Jan and India Chadwick as Marty. Additional casting includes Jayd’n Tyrone as Eugene, Phoebe Roberts as Patty Simcox, Dominique Planter as Miss Lynch, Joe Gash as Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel, Deena Kapadia as Cha Cha, while Adam Davidson is starring as Johnny Casino.
Moreover, ‘Grease’ has been seen by over 500,000 people in the West End, receiving a bunch of awards. The 1978 film adaptation with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John is also the fourth highest-grossing live-action musical of all time.
During the show, guests can expect to hear beloved songs, including Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, Hopelessly Devoted To You and You’re The One That I Want.
