Music festivals can be so much fun, if you ignore the mud, (barely) sleeping in tents surrounded by strangers and the whole toilet situation is just not ideal. However, a one-day music event is coming to Glasgow, bringing out only the very best parts of a music festival. The M4 Festival is bringing a celebration of hip-hop, rap, grime, R&B, afrobeat and acoustic artists to Glasgow this August, promising “the country’s best and brightest established performers”.
M4 Festival is taking over Barras Art and Design (BAaD) on Saturday, August 3, with the line-up revealed today (March 28).
The festival is founded by Bemz, who was the winner of DJ Mag’s Breakthrough MC/Vocalist, as well as the recipient of the “Best of British” Award, and the judge for BBC Introducing’s Scottish Act of the Year 2024. At the all-dayer event, guests can expect both well-known artists to play alongside up-and-coming stars.
Bemz, M4 Festival founder, said: “I’m really excited to bring this idea to reality, we can’t wait to welcome people to the debut M4 Festival this August. We’re looking forward to showcasing the best of what Scotland has to offer in genres that often get overlooked (including Rap, R & B and Afro Beats). This is a massive step and I hope it pushes the culture forward in Scotland.”
