When it comes to steakhouses, everyone has their individual criteria for what they are looking for. Some prefer a wide variety of meats and others focus on the sides, while some just need to know where their meat comes from. Well, Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse is the best all-rounder in Glasgow, according to TripAdvisor.
With an average five-star rating from almost 400 reviews (September 10), Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse is the best-rated steak restaurant in Glasgow and the 20th-best restaurant in the city.
Located on Sauchiehall Street, the family-owned spot boasts a non-pretentious vibe with unique decorative touches. Expect stuffed animals on walls (like a fox holding a squirrel in its mouth), neutral tones and an intimate space, accompanied by a friendly service and a varied menu with locally sourced ingredients. Guests can expect cuts like Tomahawk Steak and Chateaubriand to share, Sirloin, Fillet Steak and Cote de Boeuf as individual servings.
Secret Glasgow got the chance to try it for ourselves, and, honestly, the meat is just as good as we had hoped. The Chateaubriand was the one that stole the show, perfecting the balance of flavour and melting in the mouth.
While Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse only offers a selection of seven sides, including house salad, the Garlic and Herb-Roasted Potatoes were our favourite. Other side options were mac’n’cheese, battered onion rings and scallops. However, the restaurant doesn’t offer mashed potatoes (sob).
The wine list is also noteworthy, with gems like Primitivo, Casato Di Melzi from Salento (Italy) and Amarone Della Valpolicella, Campo Leon, Docg, Ilatium Morini from Veneto (Italy).
Overall, Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse is worth a visit for its quality of meat, and let’s hope they will introduce a wee side of mashed potatoes to its side menu.
