After Storm Austen and Storm Boelo have cleared, Glasgow and most of Scotland is not out of the woods yet. The Met Office has issued a third weather warning for this week, with strong winds once again.
The exact timings of the new Yellow Weather Warning for Wind
Glasgow, along with most of Scotland, has been issued a Yellow Weather Warning for wind between 3am and 9pm on Tuesday, October 17.
The Met Office said: “A spell of strong winds may lead to damaging gusts and transport disruption.”
“Strong west to southwesterly winds are expected to spread across much of Scotland and fringe the north of Northern Ireland during Tuesday. Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible quite widely and some coastal or exposed areas in the northwest and far north of Scotland could see gusts of 70 mph or more.
“There is still some uncertainty regarding the peak gusts, but the highest winds are expected in the far north and northwest and most likely over the Hebrides. The strongest of the winds will reduce from the southwest later on Tuesday, with the far north of Scotland the last to see winds ease.”
So, it looks like it’s not going to be as bad as during the weekend, and we should see some more settled weather starting mid-week.
As always, commuters are urged to check before they travel, and those in coastal areas should be aware of large waves and coastal debris being thrown. Overall, chances for any significant disruptions like we saw during Storm Boelo are small, but still take care when out and about.
