Scotland doesn’t do basic greetings, and yesterday (March 16) was no exception. As global superstar Snoop Dogg arrived at Glasgow Airport, he was greeted by piper Ross Ainslie playing his own version of Still D.R.E. The banging cover sent Snoop Dogg dancing, delighting onlookers and later breaking the internet by going viral.
One does not usually get to play the bagpipes in front of Snoop every day. So, Ross Ainslie was invited to give the rap superstar a proper greeting the Scottish way, and he definitely delivered.
Snoop Dogg seemed as pleased as they get as Ross was killing it at piping, giving the piper a thumbs up and dancing away with a smile. Now that’s the kind of greeting fit for a king! After all, Snoop Dogg is definitely a regal presence in the world of rap.
Apparently, the musician only had a day or so to prepare. While it’s easy to crumble under pressure, Ross Ainslie did the opposite: we have a feeling Scotland will be hearing way more of Still D.R.E bagpipe covers from now on!
The comments also flooded into the piper’s Instagram account, saying kind words such as: “Bestest thing on Instagram ever.”
Another user wrote: “Omg that’s amazing!!! Love this what a moment.”
Or: “LET ME SING YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE”, in all capitals, of course.
We love to see local musicians thrive like this, and what a special moment! I wonder if Snoop Dogg will be using this in the future, but wouldn’t be surprised if he did: it was fire.
