St Andrew’s Day may be a key date in the calendar for us Scots, however this March calls for celebrating the patron saint over the water that is St Patrick. Bringing a taste of Ireland to the city, Glasgow bar Innis & Gunn’s popular ‘Versus’ series will celebrate St Patrick’s Day with a special edition menu showcasing the best in Irish food and drink.
Running since 2018, the ‘Versus’ series offers the perfect night out for foodies, with flavours from around the globe brought to life through bespoke menus. Working with a new theme each month as inspiration, dishes are created by the head chef from each of Innis & Gunn’s four brewery taprooms across Scotland, including Glasgow.
Each ‘Versus’ menu offers four small plates per person, paired with four beers from some of Innis & Gunn’s favourite brewers that suit the theme, and four cocktails created in collaboration with a specially selected premium spirit brand. Throughout the experience, attendees get the chance to vote for their favourite dish, beer or spirit serve, with the winner crowned grand champion at the end of the night.
Taking place at the Innis & Gunn brewery taproom on Ashton Lane on March 17, this ‘Versus’ event will celebrate St Patrick’s Day by featuring four small plates that give a nod to Ireland. The dishes include crispy colcannon and bacon bites; cold oak smoked salmon, malted soda bread and whipped butter; stewed lamb shoulder, champ potato and braised cabbage; as well as Bambrack cake pan fried, with vanilla ice cream and Slane Irish whiskey.
Guests can also expect their dishes to be paired with Irish whiskey cocktails and perfect serves, thanks to collaboration with Slane Irish whiskey and a selection of Irish beers from some of Innis & Gunn’s favourite Irish brewers. Tickets to this St Patrick’s Day event are limited and available via the Innis & Gunn website and priced at £30 per person.
The ‘Versus’ series will also continue during the months ahead with their April event seeing Innis & Gunn putting their own twist on a Japanese menu as cherry blossoms start to bloom. In May, guests will see Spanish beer go head-to-head with Spanish wine, accompanied by premium Spanish Tapas and in June the brewers will be hosting a Belgian beer dinner.
