RightMove named the most popular commuter towns near Glasgow, with transport links being the most important aspect when choosing the right place. What is more, all the commuter towns offer significantly lower average home prices than Glasgow, which currently stands at £190,323.
Scotland as a whole is one of the most active real estate regions in the country overall. Compared to London, Glasgow generates over eight times as many enquiries per property, and it takes one month on average to sell a home.
Paisley is the most sought-after commuter town near Glasgow, with the travel time to Glasgow Central being just under ten minutes. Plus, the town also boasts eight to ten fast trains every hour.
Paisley also generates more enquiries than Glasgow by 1%, with average property prices being just £145,287.
Dumbarton came second on the list, even though it has 4% fewer enquiries than Glasgow. The average property price for the town sits at £161,434, and it takes 25 minutes to arrive at Glasgow Central.
Cumbernauld took third place, with the shortest commute time of 35 minutes and average property prices of £154,899. Hamilton is fourth on the list, with the fastest train journey taking 25 minutes, and median home prices sitting at £172,598. Motherwell also made it onto the list of commuting towns near Glasgow, with just a 16-minute train journey and average property prices of £162,703.
