Most of us have been to the massive store of the Japanese brand UNIQLO while on our travels to Edinburgh already. Well, UNIQLO is now coming to Glasgow, bringing a brand new massive store to the heart of the city. This can only mean they are bringing those super warm down coats, too! Oh, and let’s not forget those UNIQLO bags that can fit a kitchen sink and three ferrets in it (not that you would necessarily put any of that in a bag).
After opening its first Scottish store in Edinburgh in April, 2024, the store saw immense success with people queuing outside on Princes Street stretching all the way to Hanover Street. As a result, Glasgow is getting a UNIQLO store for ourselves, making it the second shop in Scotland.
St Enoch Centre is set to become the new home of UNIQLO in Glasgow, spanning over two retail units over two floors and 22,500 square feet. The superstore is taking inspiration from the Edinburgh branch, with possible inclusions of services such as free alterations on any bottoms over £19.90, and a similar cafe to their Katsute100 in Edinburgh, a Japanese tea salon.
The Edinburgh store also boasts RE.UNIQLO studio, offering repairs to Uniqlo clothing, with upcycling and embroidering services.
One of the most recognised lines LifeWear known for innovation and quality will also be sold within the store for all genders, kids and babies.
When is UNIQLO opening in Glasgow?
Works on the new UNIQLO store in St Enoch Centre is set to begin next week, with A Alexander Group taking over the new project. An official opening date has not yet been announced, so watch this space for more details!
Managing director of A Alexander Group, Stewart Alexander, said: “We are working with global company Tetris, to deliver this project on a design and build basis which is set to be a terrific addition to Glasgow’s retail offering. All the divisions of our business will be involved and we are looking forward to getting started on site.”
